For nurse practitioner, residency, and international programs interested in Aquifer’s free learner-level access to Aquifer cases provided via Aquifer’s COVID-19 response.

We recommend watching our All About Aquifer video overview and demo a complete case from the course of your choosing to understand the pedagogy and comprehensive, evidence-based content delivered in each case.

Learner-level access includes all Aquifer cases content for your students, faculty, and staff. All users with learner-level access will view the cases in a gated, progressive disclosure manner, with the content expanding as you click and move through the case. Printable case summaries are available only after the case has been completed or clicked through.

Learner-level access does not include the features included for administrative users with institutional subscriptions, which include direct access to reporting, the case search library, user management, and course management tools. Administrative users with institutional access can also view the cases in an “ungated” fashion, which allows them to scroll through the case to the end without completing questions or clicking through each section.

Due to the unprecedented high-volume of requests, we cannot offer individualized calls with our Relationship Management team or Trial access at this time. We suggest reviewing this page carefully and exploring our website to learn more about Aquifer and our cases.

Our website has extensive resources readily available to get you up-to-speed on our organization, teaching and learning platform, network of medical educators, and quality content.

No, free access is not currently available to WISE-MD and WISE-OnCall. Both courses are distributed by Aquifer on behalf of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

However, the NYU Grossman School of Medicine is currently gauging interest in the nurse practitioner educator community for free access to WISE-MD and WISE-OnCall through June 30th for their students. Please fill out this form (https://bit.ly/NPWISE) to show your interest as NYU works on their end to figure out the logistics of this potential endeavor.

Other types of programs, or anyone with questions should email [email protected] for additional information.

When your program’s access is enabled, the main contact person for your program will receive an orientation email to forward to all faculty and staff titled “Faculty Tools & Access: Getting Started with Aquifer”. This email includes a unique registration link for your program as well as a link to access your Faculty Tool Kit. You can then click the link to self-register and immediately gain access to cases.

When your program’s access is enabled, the main contact person for your program will receive an email invitation to forward to your students with the email subject “Student Invitation to Access Aquifer Cases”. The email includes a unique registration link for your program and some basic information about Aquifer cases. Students can then click the link to self-register and immediately gain access to cases.

It will be up to your program’s faculty to provide orientation materials and assignments to your students.

As with any learning tool, providing an orientation to your students on Aquifer cases will improve their learning experience. Unlike test banks and other learning tools students may be used to, Aquifer cases provide in-depth expert coverage designed to help them develop clinical learning skills. Read our Orienting Your Students to Aquifer that will walk you through how to think about using Aquifer and setting expectations for your students.

We recommend you walk through at least one case yourself, and review the faculty resources we will send to the main contact for your program when your access is live.

In the Faculty Tool Kit you will find Quick Case Guides for each Aquifer signature course. This simple, easy to scan list includes the case title, the patient demographic, the differential and final diagnoses for each Aquifer case.

Aquifer signature cases (Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Radiology) take an average of 45 minutes to complete. Aquifer’s free cases (High Value Care, Diagnostic Excellence, Oral Presentation Skills, Culture in Health Care, and Medical Home) are shorter on average, taking between 15-20 minutes. The full set of cases in a signature course comprehensively covers the curriculum for the relevant national medical education organization. Consider if you want to assign all or a portion of cases to your students, and whether you want to track completion in the cases.

You can require your students to submit Student Reports to you to show their case completion and summary statement work. Read the full article on Tracking Student Work with Learner-level Access for strategies and complete how-to’s.

To quickly help learners access Aquifer content, administrative access to our user management, searchable case library, custom course, and course reporting tools is not available with this free content offer.

Learner-level access allows your team to get started with minimal start-up time on your part, and relieves the administrative training burden on Aquifer’s small, dedicated, non-profit staff. Students can register and begin work as soon as access is provided and you send them registration emails.

Institutional subscriptions provide additional administrative features like access to reporting and the searchable Case Library, user management, and the ability to create custom courses.

Aquifer’s free content will be available through June 30, 2020, in order to help programs manage the extraordinary disruptions in learning they are experiencing.   After that point, if you would like to continue to use Aquifer content you have several options.

  • Institutional Subscription: Your program could purchase an annual institutional subscription for the Aquifer courses you would like to continue using. Institutional subscriptions prices vary by overall program size, and offer full administrative functionality for user management, reporting, searchable case library, and more.   Student work previously completed as part of Aquifer’s COVID response will be visible in your institutional subscription should you decide to purchase one.
  • Individual Subscriptions: Students could purchase individual access to Aquifer courses. Student work previously completed as part of Aquifer’s COVID response would not be visible in new individual subscriptions, and no administrative functionality is provided.
  • Free Courses: Aquifer’s free courses on High Value Care, Diagnostic Excellence, Oral Presentation Skills, Culture in Health and Medical Home are available for anyone to use by registering through our website. Student work previously completed as part of Aquifer’s COVID response would not be visible in new individual subscriptions, and no administrative functionality is provided.

Right now, Aquifer is processing an extraordinarily high-volume of requests for access due to the COVID-19 outbreak. If your program has requested free COVID-19 access, our team will reach out to you around June 1 to see if you wish to continue your subscription beyond June 30, 2020

In the meantime, please submit a Subscription Inquiry to let us know which courses you are interested in using and verify your enrollment.

Please note that our response to quote requests may be delayed. We appreciate your patience and look forward to serving your faculty and students.
