Join Us for the Debut of Our Teaching Strategy Series with a Practical Session on Self-Directed Learning

Health professions programs are expected to produce self-directed learners, but most faculty receive little guidance on how to build that skill intentionally. We’re addressing that gap directly with the launch of our new Teaching Strategy Series.

The series kicks off on September 10, 2026 at 11 AM EDT with Helping Learners Close the SDL Loop: A Practical Approach, a focused session designed for educators who want a structured, evidence-informed way to meet self-directed learning requirements.

Participants will walk away with a clear framework, concrete starting steps, and tools they can put to work this term, without overhauling their curriculum.

The session will cover:

  • What self-directed learning actually means

  • Why SDL requirements are rising, and where programs struggle

  • A practical, closed-loop SDL model

  • How Aquifer tools can support each step of the loop, including a highlight of new and upcoming student-facing features

  • Three low-effort ways to start now
