Calibrate gives you access to a suite of powerful reports that allow you to Identify at-risk students, track progress and evaluate your curriculum.

Using Calibrate gives you access to a suite of powerful reports that allow you to:

  • Identify at-risk students and track progress
  • Evalulate your curriculum and fill gaps with trusted case suggestions
    • By cohort
    • Across clerkships or courses
    • Across your entire program
  • Inform remediation, coaching, and mid-clerkship feedback with detailed results

Understanding our metrics

Calibrate assessments are focused on formative assessment, and do not provide a score. Your results reports will include two important metrics that allow you to easily gauge students' overall performance and understand how their accuracy and certainty align.

Learning Progress Indicator

The red, yellow, or green block indicates where students are performing compared to their peers who take the same assessment at the same time during their clerkship or rotation (early or late). This metric considers accuracy, certainty, and efficiency.

Scanning student results for red learning progress indicators allows faculty to identify students who are performing below expectations.

Clinical Learning Calibration

Each item a student completes is categorized by Clinical Learning Calibration. This metric considers accuracy, certainty, and efficiency. This categorization allows students and faculty to easily see where accuracy and certainty are aligned or misaligned and identify true knowledge gaps.

Assessment Results

Accessing Results

From your assessment page, it's easy to view results for all of the assessments associated with your account.

For a single assessment result, click on the results button next to your assessment.

To view results for multiple assessments, use the filters to sort by discipline, purpose (early or late), or date to easily find the assessments you need. Use the checkboxes or select all feature to choose your assessments, then click "View selected results."

Note: Your access to assessment results may be limited by your role in the Aquifer platform. Program Service Administrators and Curriculum Administrators have access to all assessments within their program. Lead Course Administrators have access to all assessments within their designated discipline. For more information, please review our User Roles & Permissions.

Cohort Progress Summary

The first tab of the results will summarize the performance of all students who have completed the assessment in a pie chart by learning progress indicator.

If you've selected multiple assessments (for example, for your entire academic year of a particular discipline), you can compare cohorts and understand the overall performance standard of your students and curriculum.

Below, you'll find a table with individual student performance, including a "Results" link to view their detailed results.

Curricular Performance: Summary

On the "Curricular Performance: Summary" tab, you can easily identify trends, with performance data categorized by body system and clinical focus. The report can be sorted by average accuracy percentage or clinical learning calibration levels.

Scanning the clinical learning calibration bar charts provides a heat map to easily identify weak areas (in cranberry).

Tip: Selecting all of the late assessments for your academic year in the same discipline gives you a great view on how your clerkships performed across each block.

Curricular Performance: Item Details

The "Curricular Performance: Item Details" tab provides a more granular view, showing item-level results that include learning objectives and teaching points. Using the clinical learning calibration heatmap display, or sorting by average accuracy, allows faculty to quickly zero in on trouble spots. Each item also includes a link to the Aquifer case, offering a trusted resource to fill gaps.

Individual Student Results

Individual student results can be accessed from Tab 1 of the assessment results reports, or from the Student Performance Summary report by clicking on the "Results" link for a specific student and assessment.

This report provides granular, item level detail on student performance, showing accuracy and certainty, learning objectives, and teaching points. Sort by performance, or by body system or clinical focus to help identify trends in student learning.

Next steps are made easy with links to relevant cases, and visibility on case completion status and to-do status, allowing you to see if related cases are already assigned or on the student's to-do list.

Results mirror what the students see in their own results.
