Clinical Excellence Board

Amit was published in the Journal of Educational Evaluation for Health Professions. His article, "Implementing patient- and family-centered rounds training with direct-observation assessment for medical students in the United States: a prospective feasibility study," evaluates the implementation of a patient- and family-centered rounds (PFCR) educational intervention and a standardized assessment form developed to assess changes in medical students' PFCR performance over time.

Esther Dale, PhD

Sciences Board

Esther's article, "Implementing Core Entrustable Professional Activities in Emergency Medicine Clerkships: A Psychometric Study of Student Growth," was published in AEM Education and Training. This article is a psychometric analysis of over 7,700 EPA-based assessments from 481 medical students in an emergency medicine clerkship found that most EPAs followed the expected negative exponential learning curve and achieved adequate reliability with six raters, supporting the EPA framework as a practical, informative tool for clerkship assessment and design.

Angela Beckert, MD

Geriatrics Board

Angela's article, "Med-Geri: A Novel Integrated Residency and Fellowship Model to Expand the Geriatrics Workforce," was recently published in  the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. The Med-Geri pathway, a 48-month integrated Internal/Family Medicine-Geriatrics residency and fellowship launched as an ACGME AIRE pilot in 2020, has grown from 3 to 14 sites with 38 trainees enrolled for 2025-2026, showing promising early results in retention, program visibility, and leadership development as a scalable strategy to address the geriatrics workforce shortage.

Jason Chao, MD

Family Medicine Board

Jason was published in the Journal of Dental Research, with his article "A Cluster-Randomized Clinical Trial of Silver Diamine Fluoride vs Atraumatic Restoration in Older Adults." In a cluster-randomized trial of 568 older adults in subsidized housing, biannual topical 38% silver diamine fluoride was noninferior to atraumatic restorative treatment for both caries arrest and prevention of new caries at 52 weeks, supporting SDF as a simple, deliverable option for controlling dental caries in this population.
